This scholarship is open to current undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university within the United States. Applicants must be first-generation college students, meaning that neither parent nor legal guardian has completed a four-year bachelor's degree. We welcome students from all majors, backgrounds, and walks of life who are ready to share their voice and take the next step in their educational journey.
John Ramirez Jr. is a seasoned educational executive with more than two decades of experience advancing student achievement and equitable access to quality education. He has served in superintendent, executive director, and CEO roles across California, most recently as Superintendent of Stockton Unified School District and currently as CEO of EquityIn. John holds a Master of Education in Human Development & Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Santa Clara University. Across every role, his work has been guided by a simple belief: that when systems are aligned and students are supported, transformation is possible.
The John Ramirez Jr. Scholarship was created to recognize the determination it takes to be the first in your family to pursue a college degree.
